- PARK FACTS:
1.1 Ubication:
It is located in the Guaviare department and it’s over the control of the Miraflores community, it has a triangular shape, being limited by the Bocatí canyon and the Papunaua river on the east, and the Guacarú river on the west.
The Inírida river is an important delimitation of the park’s territory, surrounding it both in the north and west sides. Also, this river floods most of the park’s territories from time to time, so most of it’s fauna and flora are “Flood Jungle”. Still, there can be found some plain environment in the park, mostly because it’s proximity to the Orinoquía zone.
1.2 Weather:
Temperature: Around 27°C.
Thin months: There are summer in august, and in the nights its frequently the fog in the top of the hill.
Rainy months: There are a seasons of rains between April and September.
Precipitation: 3.000 a 3.500 mm annual.
1.3 Geology:
Nukak has two big groups of views, thanks to the erosion, weathering and sedimentation. This scene are the plain and the range of mountains. The difference between them are the ground and their ecology. Nukak’s grounds are clayey and rich.
1.4 Hydrography:
The park is part of two watershed, Inírida’s river and Vaupés river. Due to the high rainfall (3000 or 3500 mm in a year) and the low height of the region, the large areas frequently flood. In summer, the river’s volume decrease noticeably.
1.5 Culture:
The Nukaks are a indigenous culture, who gave name to the Nukak Natural Park. They consider health a directly dependant of the integrity of the "eoro", a red substance that surrounds the person in a kind of aura, which can only be seen by someones in special circumstances and can be damaged or reconstructed by spiritual or physical powers.
1.6 Fauna:
The park has a great variety of wild animals, consisting of species of birds, mammals, fish and insects. Stand out: guacamayos, tigrillos and bagres.
1.7 Flora:
There are about 628 species of plants have been found, grouped in more than 223 genera and 102 families. Great diversity of flora, own in its great majority of the amazonia.

2. Introduction to the II Film Festival
If you are a movie lover, an English student or just someone who accidentally ended up in this blog, you are in the right place.
Everybody give a warm welcome to... the II International Film Festival!
This extraordinary project was born two years ago, in the Reyes Católicos School as an idea to take English beyond the walls of the classes. And, as you can see, the plan has been a total success, not only by taking English to a realistic and funnier way to learn but taking English to another countries and schools.
We are so happy about it: hurrah!
Last months, fourth year of ESO students (sophomore year) have been working and planning their own movies, all with a same topic: equality. From writing the script to act, record, edit and many other crazier things that those teenagers have done for their projects. They have become actually Hollywood stars. But, the most important, they have been having a really good time and learning a pair of things: use of English and teamwork.
And...who knows? Maybe the next blog will be dedicated to these same students but then, they will all have become Academy Awards winners.
Let this Festival begin!

3 siblings: Dani, Diego and Gaby. They go to sleep and then they woke up and everything has changed.

7. TITLE: UPSIDE DOWN
INTRODUCTION: Diego is a normal boy, with a normal family. But, what would happen to him if one day he woke up and finds that everything has changed? Forced to be like a girl, his world would be upside down.
8. CHARACTERS:
-Diego: Main character. He is the only one whose life doesn’t change along all the history.
-Gaby: Diego’s little sister.
-Marina: Diego’s best friend.
-Angela: Diego’s mother.
-Dani: Diego’s older brother and soap opera’s husband.
-Chili: Diego’s Father.
-Andrea: Narrator and soap opera’s wife. Also Gaby’s best friend.
9. POSTER:
Two arrows, one aiming down and the other one aiming up, Diego appears in the left one wearing pink “Girlish” clothes, meanwhile, Gaby appears on the right one with some black “Badboy” clothes. (Picture on the first page)
10. SCRIPT
Scenes:
First scene:
(We can see the whole family having dinner (Marina’s house), after they finish, Chili gets up and goes to the living room)
Gaby: This is why you made me go downstairs?! (¿Para esto me habéis hecho bajar?)
Chili: That’s not the way a lady should talk to her father! (¡Esa no es la forma en la que una señorita debe hablarle a su padre!)
Gaby: Are you fucking crazy? (¿Estás jodidamente loco?)
Chili: Sit down, now! (¡Siéntate, ahora!)
Diego, to Daniel: Damn, Daniel. (Maldita sea, Daniel.)
Daniel: She’s fucking crazy. (Está jodidamente loca.)
The family keeps eating.
Angela: (to Gaby) Dear, would you get up and wash the dishes, please? (Querida, ¿podrías levantarte y lavar los platos, por favor?)
Gaby: Why do I have to do it? Can’t the guys do it for once? (¿Por qué tengo yo que hacerlo? ¿No pueden los chicos hacerlo por una vez?)
Angela: Your father and brothers are busy right now, please, go now. (Tu padre y hermanos están ocupados ahora. Por favor, ve ya).
Gaby looks at the boys, they’re sitting down playing with their phones, she groans, takes up the dishes and goes to the kitchen.
Angela: Guys, it’s late and you have to go to school tomorrow, please go to sleep now. (Chicos, es tarde y tienen que ir a la escuela mañana, por favor vayan a dormir).
(Diego and Dany stand up and go to the living room, the camera follows them and leaves the mother in the dining room)
Second scene:
(The guys walk into the living room and walk in between their father and the TV, they stop and watch it for a few seconds, the camera turns into the tv and “gets into it”, we see the soap opera.)
Husband (Danny): I’m so sorry I cheated on you, I didn’t want to do it with Salomé, neither with Sarah or with Tina, and the thing with Vale was completely accidental! I swear! (Lo siento tanto, te he engañado. ¡No quería hacerlo con Salomé, tampoco con Sarah o con Tina, y lo que tuve con Vale fue un completo accidente!)
Wife (Andre): It’s okay, we’ll try again… (Está bien, lo intentaremos otra vez…)
Then the sound of the soap opera fades away and we can hear the father while still seeing the TV. The guys walk out the room and the camera focuses on the father, he sits and watches the tv.
Third scene:
Diego enters his room and gets on the bed, he gets his mobile out of his pocket and checks if he has any new messages. He has one of Marina, his best friend, it’s a super cheesy audio.
Marina: Hey! I’ve just came back of the date with Oliver and… oh my lord. That guy is amazing. I already love him but we have been on a date just twice. Goooood! It’s just that… I can feel the butterflies against my chest, and in my belly, and just in my heart… (¡Hola! Acabo de llegar de mi cita con Oliver y… ay señor. Ese chico es increíble . Ya casi lo quiero, pero solo hemos salido un par de veces. ¡Diooooos! Es que… Puedo sentir las mariposas contra mi pecho, mi estómago y mi corazón…) Diego stops the audio and puts blank eyes.
Diego, texting: K, I’m glad u finally met a good boy. Are u gonna help me tmr in the exam? (Ok, me alegro de que finalmente conociste a un buen chico. ¿Vas a ayudarme mañana en el examen?)
Marina: So, u want me to sit by your side in the exam to let u copy mine? (Así que quieres que me siente a tu lado en el examen para que te copies del mío?)
Diego: Yeah. Have you studied? (Sí. ¿Estudiaste?)
Marina: Of course. (Claro.)
Diego: Then, thanks. See ya tmrw. (Entonces gracias. Nos vemos mañana.)
Marina: See ya. (Nos vemos.)
Then he turns it off and puts it in the bedside table, the camera focuses and zooms on the phone, showing it has a black case.
Next morning he wakes up with “Aqua - Barbie Girl”, he wrinkles his face and takes his phone, the camera focuses on the now girlish case, he stops the alarm and stands up, the camera then zooms out and we can see the full room, which now has changed to a pink, cute colored room.
Diego: Where the f*ck am I? (¿¡Dónde mierda estoy!?)
He looks everywhere, confused. What´s this? (¿Qué es esto?)
He looks his phone. Puts an audio of Marina. She has changed.
Marina: I don’t know anything about the exam! (¡No sé nada del examen!)
Then opens the closet and sees a lot of girl clothes. He takes a pink shirt out of the closet, ... the expression in his faces shows how strange he finds that moment. Then, he throws the dress away and gets out of the room. When he gets out of his bedroom, Gaby´s knocking the bathroom’s door.
Gaby (yelling): Dude, c´mon! You always take hours in the bathroom! (¡Amigo, vamos! ¡Siempre te demoras horas en el baño!)
Dany gets out of the bathroom with a towel around his head and another one underneath his armpits.
Dany: I’m so sorry! You know I need my time to get ready! (¡Lo siento tanto! ¡Sabes que necesito mi tiempo para prepararme!)
Gaby: Ugh! (she bangs the door)
Dany (blank eyes): Women (Mujeres)
Narrator (Andre): Diego thought his day was gonna be as normal as any other, but truth was, his brothers weren’t the only reason of madness that monday morning. (Diego pensó que su día iba a ser tan normal como cualquier otro, pero la verdad era que, sus hermano no eran la única razón de su molestia esa mañana).
Diego dresses up with his sister’s clothes because they’re more “manlike”. Afterwards, he goes to the kitchen and finds Danny and Chilli having a conversation while serving breakfast.
Chili: Why are your eye bags so big? (¿Por qué tienes ojeras tan grandes?)
Danny: Oh. My. Lord didn’t I put enough makeup on? *Sigh* I knew I shouldn’t have stayed awake so late last night, but Desperate housewives was SO good I couldn’t stop (Oh. Por. Dios. ¿No puse suficiente maquillaje? Sabía que no debía quedarme hasta tan tarde anoche, pero Amas de Casa Desesperadas estaba TAN bueno que no podía parar).
Diego: Why the fuck are you guys messing up with me? (Chicos, ¿por qué coño están jugando conmigo?)
Angela: Diego, watch your mouth! (Diego, ¡vigila tu boca!)
Chili: Come and eat breakfast, dear. (Ven y desayuna querido).
(Gaby gets in the room, in a hurry, and starts taking stuff out of her backpack.She’s clearly looking for something. One of the things she takes out are pads)
Gaby: Hey, bro, do you have math’s homework? (Hey, hermano, ¿tienes la tarea de mates?)
Diego: umm why would I have it? You know I never do it. (¿Por qué la tendría? Sabes que nunca la hago).
Gaby: At least look for it! (¡Al menos búscala!)
Diego, blows: Okay. (Vale).
He starts taking out his things. He takes out a condom.
Ange: Why do you have that?! Keep it! (¡¿Por qué tienes eso?! ¡Guardalo!)
Diego looks at her sister and she denies with the head.
Chili: Diego, wash the dishes. Dany did it yesterday. (Diego, lava los platos. Dany lo hizo ayer).
Diego: It wasn’t Dany, was Gaby. (No fue Dany, fue Gaby).
Chili: She has never done it. She’s always busy. (Ella nunca lo ha hecho. Ella siempre está ocupada).
Diego looks at her. She’s watching her phone. Diego groans.
Narrator: They finish breakfast and go to school. (Los hermanos terminan el desayuno y van a la escuela).
Fourth scene:
The family hears a constant beep, is Andre picking up the two littlest sibilings. Diego tries to sit in front, but Gaby...
SONG: GOOD DAY- DNCE
Gaby: hey! whatcha doing!? You know I always go in front. (¡Hey! ¡¿Qué estás haciendo?! Sabes que siempre voy al frente).
(Diego enters in the car and he opens his legs, but Andre yells at him to close his legs. He does it and puts on his earphones and Baby-Justin Bieber, Diego screams)
Diego: WHAT HAPPENED TO MY MUSIC?! (¡¿QUÉ PASÓ CON MI MÚSICA?!)
Gaby: What music if you have always listened to Justin? (¿Qué música si siempre has escuchado a Justin?)
Gaby: What music if you have always listened to Justin? (¿Qué música si siempre has escuchado a Justin?)
Diego: I have never…! (¡Yo nunca he…!)
Gaby: Of course yes, butch. (Claro que sí, machito).
Fifth scene:
Narrator: Diego’s first class was PE. What a disgusting time to do something. But it was time for the kid to get some muscle. And when Diego got into the class… (La primera clase de Diego era educación física. Qué asco de hora para hacer algo. Pero ya era tiempo para el niño de hacer algo de músculo. Y cuando Diego entró en la clase…)
They’re all stretching and the boys are waxed. Later, they come together and start gossiping about him.
Boy 1: Hey, ummmm...do you want some depilator bands? There’s some in my bag and you could, you know, use them quickly and get back here. (Hey, eh… ¿quieres bandas depilatorias? Hay algunas en mi maleta y puedes, ya sabes, usarlas rápido y volver).
Diego stands up stranged and the boy takes his hand. They go to his backpack and he takes the épilator bands.
Boy 1: Don’t take too long. (No te demores mucho).
Diego throws the épilating bands and while he’s walking out of the bathroom, he sees the boys are peeing sitting down.
Sixth scene:
There’s Diego and his friend and the boy is explaining Diego a thing about maths.
Diego: Okay, perfect. I got it. Thanks. (Ok, perfecto, lo tengo. Gracias)
Friend: You’re welcome. (He goes next to a girl). Oh, hi. Hey Isa, could you explain me this? (Oh, hola. ¿Podrías explicarme esto?)
Diego, looking at the camera: I don’t what the hell is happening today. (No sé qué demonios está pasando hoy.)
Seventh scene:
They’re at lunch and Diego is talking to his friend. Marina arrives and slaps him in the butt.
Juanfe: Hey bitch, respect! He’s a man! (¡Oye, perra, respeto! ¡Es un hombre!)
Diego and Marina sit in the chair.
Marina: Oh, look. Yesterday I banged three after Oliver. (Oh, mira. Ayer me tiré a tres después de Oliver.)
Diego: You?! You’re not like that. (¿Tú? Tú no eres así.)
Marina: It’s only you left. You’re such a dragqueen today. (Solo faltas tú. Hoy estás muy dragqueen.)
Diego: What happened to you? (¿Qué te pasó?)
Marina looks at him.
Nita crosses, burps and compliments him: Sassy, boy. (Sabroso, chico.)
Diego stares at her.
Marina: I’m a girl, what did you expect? (Soy una chica, ¿qué esperabas?
Diego: Didn’t you saw that? (¿No viste eso?)
Marina: What, Diego? She does that every day at this same hour. What is going on with you today? (¿El qué, Diego? Hace eso todos los días, a esta misma hora. ¿Qué te pasa hoy?)
Diego: How can you say that? This morning I saw my sister playing LOL! (¿Cómo puedes decir eso? ¡Esta mañana vi a mi hermana jugando LOL!)
Marina: So what? We both play everyday! You’re always telling me to stop it. (¿Y qué? ¡Jugamos ambas todos los días! Tú siempre me dices que pare.)
Diego: You have never played that! It was ME, Diego, you’re best friend who is a guy, who played that game day and night! (¡Nunca has jugado eso! Era yo, Diego, tu mejor amigo, el cuál es un chico, el que jugaba ese juego día y noche.)
Marina: Just leave it. (Sólo déjalo.)
SONG: Somebody that I used to know- Gotye
Eight scene:
In the TV, Danny is watching the soap opera and Diego passes.
Husband (Danny): I’m so sorry I cheated on you, I didn’t want to do it with Salomé, neither with Sarah or with Tina, and the thing with Vale was completely accidental! I swear! ((Lo siento tanto, te he engañado. ¡No quería hacerlo con Salomé, tampoco con Sarah o con Tina, y lo que tuve con Vale fue un completo accidente!)
Wife (Andre): That’s just unforgivable!... (Eso es imperdonable.)
Ninth scene:
SONG: sweet dreams - Eurythmics
Diego is in the balcony, thinking, laying against the railing. A glass of soda in his hand. This is when Andre comes out and starts touching him.
Andre: Hey babe. (Hola, cariño.)
Andre: So handsome and single? (Diego smiles a little and turns around) Why so rude? (Holding his shoulder, forcing him to face her. Diego turns again.)Let’s get out of here
(¿Tan guapo y soltero? ¿Por qué tan rudo?)
Diego: Leave me alone (she keeps insisting, her hands going underneath his shirt. Gaby gets in the room) (Déjame en paz.)
Gaby: WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!? GET THE HELL FAR AWAY FROM MY BROTHER! (pushes her away from him. Andre does a feint of kicking back, but Gaby slaps her. Andre leaves and Gaby goes towards his brother) Are you okay? What were you thinking?
(¿QUÉ COÑO ESTÁS HACIENDO? ¡ALÉJATE DE MI HERMANO!. ¿Estás bien? ¿En qué estabas pensando?)
Diego: I’m feeling dizzy (Gaby drinks from the glass and afterwards she spits it). (Me encuentro mareado.)
Gaby: Diego! This has pot! (¡Diego, esto tiene droga!)
Diego (surprised and amused): How do you now? (¿Cómo lo sabes?)
Gaby (winks): I’ve got some experience. I’m a girl. (They smile at each other). Come with me, we’re gonna make you puke. (Tengo experiencia, soy una chica. Ven, vamos a hacerte vomitar.)
Tenth scene:
Narrator: Diego’s day is almost ending. God damn, he is so tired. He just want to go to sleep and rest for some hours of all this crazy dream. And he obviously will do it.
SONG FOR CREDITS AND TRAILER: We will rock you - Queen.
11. TRAILER AND MOVIE:
Music: We will rock you. -Queen.
All the main characters are walking after Andre, meanwhile she’s talking.
Andre: What would happen if you woke up…? (¿Qué pasaría si te despertaras…?)
It enters a shot of Diego dressed like a girl. A: ...and everything has changed? (¿Y todo hubiera cambiado?) It goes an image of Gaby, dressed like a girl. Then, fastly, a lot of scenes pass.
A: So… (Así que…)
The shot changes. It’s she.
A: Are you ready? (¿Estás preparado?)
It appears the title of the movie.
12. OPINION:
We think it’s an original idea and we liked it since the first time. We had to change the story and this was the result. But now we prefer this one. It’s more random and funnier. And also, it seems a lot more to us.
We loved make this project, although it wasn’t easy. Now we know how hard is make a movie -even if it’s just five minutes!. We want to thank all of our extras, the school and teacher who helped us and also ourselves because we think it’s going to be great!
12.1 Andrea’s personal opinion
In my opinion, the film festival was wonderful. I thought the project was very interesting, though there are still some little details to improve. For example, the premiere reached a point when it was getting dull because of the length of the ceremony. In addition, I think the English department could've promoted the premiere a little bit more.
Nevertheless, I loved this task, specially because we got to have a really good time and discover the definition behind real friendship.
I hope more and more people participate through the coming years, because the experience was gorgeous and I want more people to have it, because I would definitely do it again a thousand times.
12.2 Marina’s personal opinion
I think this project was truly amazing because It let us thought about roles in our society. Also, I think It was an incredible experience the filming and editing work.
It was also so cool do something different and with friends.
I think Next year there should be prices for the best trailer and poster. I think the permiere and all the preparation took too long.
12.3 Diego’s personal opinion
The film festival was an interesting proyect but i think that it took a lot of time that we could spend improving our english with other kind of activities. Also i don't like the fact that this proyect is so inportant in the final mark, but i'm glad of having the oportunity of participating in it because we had funny moments while we were filming and the final result was amazing spaydey sensual
12.4 Daniel’s personal opinion
In my opinion the Film Festival is a very young proyect yet, with a lot of things to improve. But this year it was overall very impresive, I didn't expect it to be taken so seriusly and I'm really glad we all worked so hard on it.
As for my group, I think we all had a lot of fun filming and editing the movie, this proyect gave me a lot of opportunities to meet with people.
At last I strongly recommend to participate in this kind of activities, it's very funny …
12.5 Gabriela’s personal opinion
I’m really thankful with the English department, because I think that the best way to learn something is going out on a lamb and break all the limits that a book or a class can give. So, I think that all my team and specially me, have learnt a lot with the Film Festival project. And also, I’m thankful with my mates, because we worked amazing together and, the most important of all, we had fun.
I think, in the future, this Festival should grown up and involve more classes and students. It would have more original ideas, different points of view and we could also see how other teenagers work. Meanwhile, the premier was a little bit long and kind of boring, so I think that it must be in consideration for next years.
